that is pretty damn cool,  I saw something similar years ago but it was only a broken tine.  I still have it somewhere I think.  As stupid as it may seem, or I guess as stupid as the law actually is, keeping that antler is illegal.  I would likely keep it too and take my chances but just FYI.

just called olympia, was told "any naturally shed antler can be kept, doesnt matter how it was shed as long as not caused by any act of man". so maybe i did keep it  :chuckle:

Nice,  I was just thinking about that after I typed the post,  it really was a natural act that caused it to "shed".    I was thinking it could be along the lines of finding a winter kill bull skull with antlers attached but not really the more I think about it,  you just have an antler and an act of nature caused it to be "shed"

That is of course if you did keep it.  :chuckle:

Wow!  Getting the chance to witness this and take home a steaming antler is a once in a lifetime deal.  Very cool.

I heard two bulls going at int NM one year right before dark.  I ran my tail off to get there in time to sneak in for a shot but they were going NUTS, spinning around in a cloud of dust.  I was inside 50 yards but there was no way to get an ethical shot off with all that commotion.  I just sat back and watched the fight until it got dark.  The vocal whining they were doing was unlike any elk sound I'd heard and the antler clatter noise carried a long way.  After seeing two 300+ class bulls putting every ounce of energy into a battle, it's no wonder they snap main beams like twigs.
