Caught this coyote jogging by at 30 yds.  Decided to let him stop and rest at the 100 yd. mark.  Permanently.  We guessitamated him to be at the 40 lb. range, but without scales not sure.  Heavy dawg though.  Saw a few more later in the morning, but nothing close.

Big10, you're not alone... saw 9 today. Saw one eyeing us from the truck when we pulled in this morning at about 700 yards. First set we had one stick at about 600 yards and disappear... Had a reasonable shot at one and decided to just give it a shave... found hair but not a drop of blood. Later, had a big old male tease us at about 400 yards, and another one circle below us. Took a desperation shot I'm not proud of.. score 2 for the yotes today. Saw 4 on private land.. two mating pairs we could have shot from the truck.. go figure. Good day to at least see them, though, I suppose! At least we had the sight distance. Thank goodness for a little relief from the fog!

Happy hunting...
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

I guess I feel better about not being the only one having a hard time of late.  Three more for Team Lamar.  Got one Friday and a buddy of mine and I went out Saturday.  Each getting one.  One of the last stands we did we saw a dog as we got there.  Deciding whether or not to make the stand as a runner just went right thru it.  As we were walking down into this canyon, we spotted another dog on the far side that was looking our way but not at us.  When this dog turned to walk it had a bad limp on its left front.  We talked about how best to approach and the "winning" idea was to have me crawl down to the bottom in a little bowl while my buddy stayed up on the cayon from a good vantage point.  From the bottom, I had poor field of view but thought being the "bait" this might work out.  I started doing nothing more than trying to squeek the cripple in.  From there I went to "lucky bird".  After a bit of nothing, I get a hand signal from my buddy to turn it up more.  I do and within a minute or so I can see my buddy getting ready.  This dog was coming to me, but my buddy hit his squeeker (to let me know a dog is coming) and it turns straight for him and on a dead run.  He shoots twice and yells, "He's coming right at ya!"  I stand up and this coyote is now 30 yards and doesn't want to be our invited guest anymore.  I turned the power down on my scope and about 5 rounds later off hand....he decided it wasn't so bad hanging with us afterall.   :chuckle:

Saw a fair amount of dogs (which isn't saying much as of late as it's been very quiet).  Zero responses to the howler and 2 of these were females.

Saw these two, the only two last week.  They were 200 yds apart, I tried everything to get some kind of response.  Decoy, howling, distress, Ki-Yi, nothing they didn't do anything.  one of them actually laid down & took a nap in the sun.  It appears that are a little more active this week, at least it isn't just me me who is feeling the slow down in the activity.

Updated through this post except for Swags pictures.  I tried modifying your embed code, but don't know if it is the code or photobucket that is messed up.  Try posting as an attachment if it doesn't resolve itself soon.
