Thompson Center Shockwave 300 Grain Bonded
« on: October 06, 2009, 07:19:38 PM »
Here is a picture of my bullet after it penetrated the shoulder blade, rib and lungs of an elk at 40-50 yards. I thought it performed well. I am shooting a Knight Bighorn stainless with the longer barrel thumbhole stock. 150 grains 777 pellets. A little over 1900 fps.

Not really sure how I feel on these after this year. Patterned great in pre-season out of my CVA elkhorn with 120g of Pyrodex. First shot went through both lungs and came out with no expansion. No blood or anything! Second shot was shoulder, Massive damage and it rolled her down about 100 feet of hill. Recovered that round and here are the pics.

I shot the 250grn sabots out of my CVA bolthunter pro and 100 grains of 777 and they shot well, but i have not tried them on any game yet...i am gonna stick with 295 powerbelts for hunting purposes.

Here are 2 bullets I found while skinning out my elk.  Bullet 1 kinda goofy peel back was a high angle shot from the back at 150 yards.  Bullet 2 perfect peel back is 100 yards broadside through both front shoulders and clipped top of heart.  Both are Shockwaves 250 grain with 115 grains of 777.  Both bullets were against the hide and did not exit.  More powder next time, I think I will bump up to 125.

You found the plastic tip too. I was amazed the tip was still holding its shape.
