Agree with Slider, Any buck with a bow is a good buck and that one is a dandy!

After talking with quite a few folks and watching all the internet sites, it appears that the hunting in the Entiat for quality bucks was definitely down in 2007. Pretty consistent with my observations during my hunt. I had a little bit of harvest remorse the next day wondering if I should of held out longer. It looks like now it turned out to be a pretty good decision to shoot.

Anyone else have or hear of any good bucks being harvested in the Entiat late archery seasons?

great buck with a bow...i'd have no remorse at all, and thanks for taking the time to take a sweet picture too.

here's an entiat buck, not sure which season.

i'd have no remorse with a rifle.

Boom.....that's a good buck!  You can't have any remorse with that.  Having the Late Entiat C tag isn't so much about holding out for that big ol' migratory buck as it is just have the oppurtunity to hunt in one of the best Mule Deer areas in the state.  Any buck with that tag and that weapon you should be proud.....thanks for sharing.

Nice buck Boomskin.  From what I saw while hunting the entire Entiat B season, you did well.  There were 9 of us at our camp (3 different groups that were drawn), and we ended up with only 3 deer.  One was a mediocre 4 pt along with a smaller 3 pt and 2pt!  Conditions were terrible.  Crunchy snow, fog and full moon, we had it all.  We didn't see a lot of other hunter success either.  A few guys had does, but didn't see any big bucks taken.

After also having the late Entiat archery tag in 04, 05 I'm convinced the herd is declining.  We saw way fewer deer this year than before, especially the bucks.  There were still quite a few smaller bucks, but the number of 20"-24" bucks was way down.  Those were plentiful before.  I'm guessing the increased number of rifle permits had something to do with that.

Maybe just the weather and conditions were wrong for this year, but I believe the herd has been reduced.  Talking with a few of the local landowners, they are in agreeance, and not very happy about it.

What did appear to be plentiful was coyotes!  Only physically saw 4 or 5, but there were tracks EVERYWHERE!  I didn't get to see it, but there was a moose roaming around there as well.

The pictures with Eldon and his buck were from the first late archery season, his brother and him both tagged out.  The buck population is definetly on the decline, to bad, still good hunting though.

I agree Bearhunter, it is still a good hunt.  I guess my preference would be to see the Entiat hunt managed as more of a trophy hunt instead of an "increased chance to fill a tag" hunt, if that makes sense.  And, of course, that's just my personal opinion.  The number of larger bucks we saw this year versus '04 and '05 was significantly lower.  I still had my chance, though, and the vision of my arrow just clearing that bucks back will live with me forever! :'(
