I reload for all my rifles. I know what is in every cartridge I make. And they are all the same. I measure every powder charge out on the scale. Kind of a pain, but I am anal about reloading.

x 2 especially about the anal part for me.

I have been reloading since I was in my teens.  I reload for every centerfire in my arsenal and my brother, and my nephew.

Federal .338 WM shells are 65.00 for 20.  I can load for right at a dollar a shell for everything we shoot.  Plus we get as good if not better accuracy by the time I get thru messing with COAL after finding a load that works.
3 shots clover leafed inside of 3/4 at 100 yards out of a .338 wm is good enough for me.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Reloading for me is like "Packing your own Chute" before you jump out of a plane.  It's also about having what I want, when I want it and in the amounts I want.  Call me a control freak!  :o :o :o :o

Primers are running $43/1000 (or so) = $1.72 for 40 rds.
Nosler 180gr AB's running $24.49/100 = $9.80 for 40rds.
Powder runs about $24/lb (7000 grs) = $13.71 for 40rds (for a 100gr charge)
Assuming you have saved all of your Rummy's Brass = $0.00
Total cost approximately = $25.23 for 40 rds.

What is not covered is the cost of a press, scale, dies, powder measure, case trimmer, neck trimer, brass polisher (cleaner), you will pass the $500 mark amazingly fast. I would recommend a beginners kit. Another good source is garage sales, where this stuff can had for pennies on the dollar. hosted by a disgruntled wife. :chuckle:

where are you finding 180gr AB's for 24.49 per 100 ?!!!! let me in on that one. last i bought was a 50 count for a little under 30 bucks

Nice breakdown Chopaka81.  I think you meant $24.49 for 50 accubonds though.  I sure beats the $65 a box for Remington Factory Bonded ammo!!

My bad!!! You are correct the AB's come in boxes of 50. Therefore my breakdown of cost are in error. Double the cost of bullets.

I havent bought any factory ammo in years, I cant belive how expensive it is now. If I was buying factory ammo I dont think I would be shooting much. Reloading and buying componants a little at a time, it doesnt seem like it cost so much and I allways have a helth supply of loaded ammo stocked up.

So that's ~$35.00 for 40rnds of a none too popular cartridge.  I was in a store the other day that certainly didn't stock 300rum. But they did have 300wm Fed Premium. $47.50 for a box of 20!

Uh, there's just a 'little' savings by rolling your own. :IBCOOL:

This past summer, my Dad, myself, and my son took a road trip to Wyoming for a PD shoot. Being able to reload the ammo for that shoot resulted in a huge savings. We ended up going thru 1500 rds of 223 ammo. I am "fairly" certain that ammo costs were 25 cents on the dollar. When you are talking about 1500 rds of ammo, that is a significant cost savings.
