Fiber Color
« on: October 12, 2009, 09:25:35 AM »
Has anyone ever seen any data regarding the best color for light transmission in low light.... in respect to fiber optic (bow pins) material that is????

I've generally used green but I know from several studies done on fishing lures that blue is the color that is supposed to transmit the most light (show up best in low light).  Just wondering if any studies have been done on fiber optics on bow sights.  I don't know if I've ever seen a blue fiber optic sight before, has anyone else?

Should go from blue to red - red being the most difficult to see in low light.  It has something to do with the wavelength of the light, if I remember right.

I've never seen blue fiber optics materials for bow sights but I always want green for my first pin - if it's that early or late (but still legal, obviously) I'm probably not going to be shooting far, anyway.

The human eye typically sees green the best in low light.  That's why military night vision uses green.
