Personally I think adding all these traditional hunting calibers to the AR platform will go a long way in diminishing the "assault weapon" tag placed on these firearms. I think its a good thing myself.

Right now there are a metric of cal. choices for the AR platform.  I have a friend of mine that is using Olymic Arms AR's exclusively on his hunts.  I cant remember what the cal was of the one he brought when i hunted with him last but the casing was a big fat body and the projectile was probably in the .243 size.  

He said it shoots flat as a board and will pretty much stack rounds on top of each other.

The .243 WSSM is ballistically the same as the .243 Win... just shorter and fatter... just like the .25 WSSM vs the .25-06.  I picked up a Win Coyote in .25 WSSM for my dad a few years ago... not a real popular cartridge, but he reloads and enjoys it.
