My daughter is shooting for her High School trap team....
« on: October 21, 2009, 11:33:56 AM »
Well, I put this in the classifieds, but have had no responses.  My daughter is shooting for the Castle Rock High School trap team this year and needs a left-handed pump, Browning BPS, an O/U, or a single/double trap set.

She tried her brother's (right handed) Benelli Sport II, but says she doesn't like seeing the shells flying across in front of her face. (At least I know she has her eyes open!)  She is shooting my 870 right now, but I'd like her to have her own shotgun.  I'd like to get her a two barrel set, but price may be the determining factor.

We would like to keep the price down just a bit, in the event she loses interest after High School.  So if you have a Perazzi, or a Krieghoff set for sale, I'll probably have to pass.  (That is unless the price is really really good!)

Thank you for your support!

I'd contact Walt, of the High performance shooting club.  He is one of our sponsors.  I would imagine they have a pretty good idea tof what would be perfect for her.  Their banner is still in our sponsor section.  They may even have members that have guns for sale. :dunno:

www.hpst.biz  High Performance Shotgun Training.

i don't know of any left handed guns he's got to sell...but i can ask him.

it's too bad you're so far away. he's got a youth team with a few kids going at Seattle Skeet and Trap right now. it's a free deal if anyone else is interested, let me know. there are other teams around the state too.

Dang, High School Trap Team  :o  That is fantastic! Even growing up in Eastern WA I never heard of a HS Trap Team. What an awesome opportunity for your daughter!

Big gun show at the puyallup fairgrounds this weekend.  I know it is a drive, but if you know what you are looking for you can get some great deals.
There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

Yeah, when I found out about the high school having a trap team, I "encouraged" all three of my kids to participate.  Anytime a school sanctions an organized shooting sport....I just don't see a downside to that.

Any school in the state of Washington is eligible to form a trap team and compete over in Wenatchee in April for the state championship.

All it takes are some teachers, and parents to volunteer their time,  and someone to contact the FFA to find out all the particulars.
I'm surprised, coming from the dry side, that your school didn't promote it, as that's where all the really good teams come from.
They kick our butts every year in the team competition.  We had one kid last year take first in the "chip" game on the first night, and some from other years prior do fairly well.

The program here has been growing the last few years, mostly because of some parents (who shall remain nameless) who tell everyone they can to get their kids involved.  In fact it's got so popular that it actually has a section in the school annual now, and weekend shoot results are read on the morning bulletin, right along with the other sports highlights.  All my kids have been good athletes and all have said that busting 50 straight takes more concentration and focus than any other sport.  Like I said I just don't see a downside to it.

Now I just need to buy a shotgun for my youngest....

Excellent, I'm going to have to look into that for my kids. Things are a little too liberal up this way but it's worth a shot (pun intended).
Ya, I graduated many, many years ago so perhaps all that cool stuff started after I left Eastern WA. Glad to see it take off though, people make careers out of that stuff and Olympians as well. I love shooting trap on the weekend and will definately see what North Kitsap has to say about it. I just don't want to share my Citori  :yike: and the old 870 might discourage more than encourage

Thanks for the info CastleRocker
