Bowhunter Education

I just spent this weekend at the Issaquah Sportsmen's Club taking a two day Bowhunter Education class.  I would highly recommend this class to anyone.  I wished I had taken this class five years ago when I started bowhunting.  The instructors were awesome and everyone in the class had a great time.  For all of the new bowhunters out there I would really suggest this class.

I took the course back in 1987 at NW Archery,
Due to planning on going out of state for an archery bear hunt I tried to get my a copy of my documentation for it as I seemed to have misplaced it (card) I will probably have to take it again.

I took my class there. I believe it was run by Alan Jones. Great guy and worth taking. What I did was take the online test and did my field day at the clubhouse.

Took it to about 6 years ago before we went to Montana. I think some states you are required, i could be wrong thats what i was told

I know it is not the same but you can take the course online.

Even if you take the online course you need to show up for a field day to finish and get the certification.

It is good in other states including Alaska.

I did it, there are some states that require it for an archery licence.

That's awsome.  Are there any courses given out here on the East Side.  Preferably around Yakima, E-Burg, Wenatchee?  I think like many other states out there this should be a required class in order to purchase a bow tag.  I also think that you should be required to qualify on the range periodically.  Just my  .  Okay flame away at me.

 I agree, The "Hunter Safety" course is too oriented on "firearm safety" and does not cover archery.
I also agree with the "mentoring" system where first time hunters are required to accompany "educated" hunters for the season.

I took mine back in 99' and lost my card. They charged $5 for a new card. You may have to go in to WDFW to get it done though. Good luck!

Alan Jones was one of the instuctors.  The other was Charles ?, can't remember his last name but both great guys.  The class fulfills requirements for bowhunter ed in all 50 states, Canada, and across Africa.

The last time I bowhunted Montana.  All I had to do was prove that I had archery hunted before.  I showed them a paper our fish and game sent me and they gave me a bowhunter license.  Not sure if it will work in other states or not.
