knapping a piece of rainbow obsidian- NEW PICS.-
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:48:23 PM »
This is a picture of  Emory Coon knapping a piece of rainbow obsidian, he's not finished with it.  He says he is going to make an eagle out of it.  There will be more pictures as he gets further along with this project.  Hope you enjoy the pics.

Here's a picture of some of the obsidian eagles that Emory has made.

What fantastic work!
That being said,  I find the hat nothing less than disturbing.  I am going to pretend that he needs it for protection from the flying shards, and that he is not trying to cover his alien "cone head".   :chuckle: :chuckle:
Flint knapping is a skill I have always wanted to learn.  It's on my "bucket list".

That guy is really skilled.  Very nice work.

Out of curiosity, what is on that guy's head?

A few years ago, at one of the knap-ins at Glass Butte, its usually pretty cold and usually snows during the knap-in, so one of the ladies spun some wool and made that hat for him.  He says it keeeps his head and ears warm.   :dunno:

Very cool work!

As for the lady spinning wool for a hat, I think it would be easier to just make it helmet style then KKK looking, especially with the KKK looking dude on the side lmao.

Other then that, the eagles look pretty awesome, if I could find one in a shop I would buy it.

Emory is a very talented artist when it comes to knapping besides being a nice guy.  He does knapping exclusively for his income.  He sells stuff to a lot of casinos, as well as, other outlets.  You can do a search on his name, Emory Coon, and come up with a lot of stuff people have posted about him and stuff he makes or if you would like, you can pm me and I can send you some information so you can contact him personally to see what he has to offer for sale at this time.
