State Record Shiras Moose.  Scored 183 6/8 from Stevens County, Washington.  The bull is 54 inches wide with 13 points per side

I would venture a guess that IS the moose being referred to. Must have been a date mix up somehow. The odds of the same guy killing another moose 4 years later with the same spread and same over "record" score are astronomical.

  Not to mention, isn't there a picture in that link of the guy standing next to the mounted bull? I know that they will sometimes do "rush jobs" on potential record animals for photo ops, appearances, etc but this would be a little excessive, wouldn't it?

   I believe that the date in the article is correct and that this bull was taken in '05. I could be wrong though....I've been known to be a bit slow at times.

It was killed in 2005.

It appears to me that he entered it into Boone and Crockett and then later entered it into the Northewest Biggame records (different record keeping organization) That is where the 2009 date comes from possibly. Don't hold me to that though, just a guess.

That is a hell of a moose for washington, I would venture to say there are bigger ones out there but good luck finding them.

from what i heard and the picture i saw it suppose to be short lived.  A guy got one this year that after the 60 day drying period will break this record.  What a huge moose, would love to have a moose tag sometime in my life. Congrats to the hunter.
