Halloween Morning Ducks!
« on: October 31, 2009, 08:17:42 AM »
Great morning today!  My pup did really well, retrieved all the birds.  Two were blind retrieves where I had to give her hand signals from across the pond.  One was a keystone cops chase where the duck would swim just ahead of her and right when she was about to catch it, it would dive.  It was funny to watch but Meggie finally got it before getting too tired.  I was back in less than an hour and probably could have got my last two, but I'm letting the pond settle down for Clipboard Guy and me tomorrow morning!!!

What area is the pond you are hunting? Do you think these are still local birds? Or have some new birds come down?
Nice looking morning hunt.

Deer Park area.  I think these are moving down.  We had lots of ducks in late Aug and early Sept. around here then they disappeared.  They finally showed up again a week ago, so they must be moving down.

nice job!  I could of had a morning like that if I could hit what I was shooting at.  I got two birds this morning and missed a lot more just one of those days where I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn if I was in it.

Looks like you got it all figured out. When I go out hunting by the end of the day the ducks look like I drowned them. I guess it really pays off for the photos if you keep them dry. Good job
