Wyoming Wolfs
« on: November 04, 2009, 08:58:12 AM »
Just got back from Mt and Wy and I had an encounter with a pack of wolfs in Wy.

Was hunting the edge of the old Yellowstone burns, which is also grizzly territory, for deer on my first day their and was on my way to an area with the wind blowing pretty strong and I came up to the edge a bowl and not 50 yards below a Wolf walks by then 2, 3, 4, and 5. Only a few seconds later they got my wind turned around and went back the way they came. About 30 seconds later a 6th. one came up.

Now do I grab my gun or pepper spray, gun in case they get an idea to check me out further. Never saw them again.  On my way out of the area that day there were a lot of wolf tracks in the mud on the closed road I had walked in on in the dark.

I heard wolfs howling on 2 other occasions a few days later. Talked with a local a few days later and they said there are quite a few wolfs in the area along with grizzlies. The guy I talked with had been looking for a black bear and only seen grizzlies, I told him where I had seen a nice blackie the day before.

There are still lots of deer in the area, but I'm sure that the wolfs will be making an impact on the numbers.

The was not any collars on any of them. It did not even cross my mind to just kill any of them. I'm sure I could have though. It was just such a great experience to see them in the wild even if it was for the total of about a minute.

Killing a wolf and risking federal prison time isn't a real smart idea in my book...   :twocents:

Smart is not necessarily a prereq…nor is it one of the three S’s.   :)

I'm glad you saw them and can appreciate them Roger.  I'm also glad to hear that there are still lots of deer in the area.  Wolves have been there for a long time and if they were going to eliminate the ungulates, it would have happened already.
Thanks for sharing!

yep, Its the only way that they can shove the wolves on everyone, When you talk about legal, take a look down the back trail of all the illegal sh%t that went on when the USFWS and Defnders of Wildlife went to Canada to bring the wolves into this country and the lies that followed. Who is above the law here??????? >:( >:(. When the wolves become out of control in Wa. there will also be more wolves turned to worm dirt. Not the wolves fault, but the greedy bast@rds pushing the the wolf. >:( >:(

It all started with the introduction to yellowstone, The tourists were not seeing the amount of wolves and grizzly bears that yellowstone is renouned for! So They re-introduced the wolves and grizzlies, and they came on stronger than ever and with this being done there was suppose to be a managable population of 400 wolves. This population arrived faster than expexted and the usfws went o crap we dont have a population management on paper so... :o we better get one, 6 years later with thousands of wolves now expanding through the rockies like wildfire we still dont have a suitable management plan in wyoming.  :dunno:And it doesnt take a room full of scientist and Lawers to figure out that you cant put a fire out by pissing on the edge of the fire, you need to spray at the center. Montana and idaho have a management plan but if the wolves keep moving out of yellowstone guess were they are heading? Montana and Idaho :bash: :bash:
But everyone from ney york and florida can now come see a wolf in his nataural inviroment. O did i mention that the ranchers that live around yellowstone loose hundreds of calves in februrary and march during calving season due to wolves!!! >:( >:( >:( never had this problem tell after the re-interduction..

Actually, USFWS and Defenders of wildlife knew exackly how fast these wolves would multiply, more Money for all. The USFWS have been riding the money trail with defenders of wildlife through the whole wolf fraud from the beginning. It is the poor saps that trusted them that are now suffering. Washington has seen what has happened in the other states, we should be able to see what will happen to Washington!!!!! ;) Except for the few who work for the wolf department, and even they know what will happen, but their jobs and their overheads jobs are at stake, we all know where that goes for some.

It did all start with the introduction in yellowstone and that was a crooked deal also. What you have said in your post is true, and is a damn good post. More people with your beleilfs might slow the wolves down and I recommend the 3-SSS at every chance. But I don't think it will put a dent in the wolf problem that Washington has now. Wolves have been dumped all over WA. for along time now, we have wolves everywhere. The 3-SSS has been going on in Wa. for along time. Even before WDFW decided to come out of the closet in 08 with new lookout wolf pack and the very same day so did Oregon, That right there should tell you something. ;)

Wyoming is the only state that stuck to the plan that was in the introduction of the Canadian wolves, which was illegal for the USFWS and their best friends, defenders of wildlife to do. So in my opinion they brought these wolves in illigally, these animals are causing a hardship to the people, and our wildlife. If USFWS do not grow a pair and deal with their screw up, then, let the lawsuits begin. And their will be many Lawsuits, and many wolves that hit the dust in Washington.
