I fall into the situational category.  I always start the season with no expectations and I make my shooting decision at the very moment I have the animal in front of me.  I have a couple wall hangers and have shot many small animals as well.  This year it was all about the meat, but being it was my wifes first year as a shooter, it was anything goes for her.  Figures she would drop a 4x5 Blacktail.........  Now it is anything goes for me and hoping to find her bucks bigger brother, or son, or nephew or anything legal.

Gotta love it when the wife lays the smackdown on a big buck!!!!!!!!!  Congrats to her.....

I think the short seasons and high cost our Lame ,not misspelled, Dept has put on us has made a lot of us change in how we hunt, and what we will harvest.  At least in the modern rifle season, you just don't always have time to pick and choose.  I used to hunt quality, but not any more.  If it is there and it is legal, it is mine.

In our camp we have a saying: "no small bucks" which means it has to be bigger than the last buck we shot, and we have killed a couple nice ones, but as you can imagine, after awhile that gets tough, besides, i know for me, i might say im holdin out for a big one, but as the season goes on, if i see a legal buck and hes in a spot where the drag isnt all that tough, sorry but hes takin a dirt nap!
