Chukar and a young dog
« on: November 10, 2009, 12:03:35 PM »
Well it's been a pretty good year for the pup and I.  It's his second full season and the bulb is burning brighter and brighter.  Here are a couple pics of the pup doing his thing.  Sorry some might be a little blurry, still learning how to use the PnS I just got.

Nice pictures...appears he's doing what he was bred for.  Some of the best quality time in this world is spent behind a bird dog.  A friend second to none.

Thanks and you are certainly correct about the friend part.  The bond I have with this pup is unbreakable.  His range in Chukar country is anywhere from 150-300 yards, sometimes more.  Now that he's getting a little older and more confident he's covering a lot more ground.  It's a pleasure to watch.  I almost forgot my gun a couple weeks ago and I don't think it would have been that big of a deal, that's how much I like seeing him do what he was bred to do.

Thanks,
Jake

Nothing like a good bird dog.  I had a lab for the past several years because I do a lot of late season waterfowl hunting, but grew up bird hunting behind several shorthairs.  The one my brother and I grew up with, a small female, hunted for 14 seasons and lived almost 17 years.  Lots of great memories.
