Can anyone apply for a hound tag and then if drawn contact someone with hounds that might want to take them?

yes you have to own hounds to be able to hunt them. one of the all time things that piss me off are people who dont own hounds and still put in. the people who actually own hounds have to put up with them and feed them and what not. while some dumb ass takes a tag and doesnt even own one. unfortunetly this does happen, i dont know how many of the applicant do own hounds, but i would say a good number out in who dont

Here is what the regs say:

"Who May Apply: Anyone who is a Washington resident and owns dogs capable of tracking and baying a cougar. If a quota is not reached in a hunt zone by January 15, then the Department will issue permits to additional hunters (hunters will be drawn at random from the unselected pool of applicants and must be a resident of one of the five counties)."

I wonder if my ex-wifes Pomeranian/Maltese mix qualifies? :chuckle:

Here is link to more info.

Wouldn't that be baiting? :chuckle:
