2009 mulie
« on: November 22, 2009, 09:26:46 PM »
Thought I would post my deer hunt this year.  I went to the family property this year and managed to knock down my biggest mulie yet.  We had pretty good weather leading up to the season with the rain so the woods were as quiet as I have seen in years.  The problem was it rained the night before the opener and the fog rolled in so thick that morning we could only see about 40 yards.  Made for some rough hunting in the morning.  We only saw a few animals with the limited visibility so we waited for it to burn off while we had lunch.  After lunch it started to rain so we hit the hills again.  I headed up the steepest hill behind our property to get as far away from anyone as possible.  After sneaking for about an hour and a half up the hill I jumped a nice forked horn with 6 does.  After waiting for them to move on I kept heading up the hill until I was crossing an open break between draws when I spotted a white face through the rain and fog.  I brought the gun up to look for the all important 3rd point.  We stared at each other while he was in his bed in the bottom of the draw when he decided I didn't belong there.  He turned his head to get up and I saw his rack and said SON OF A BEEOTCH,  GET SOME LEAD IN THE AIR.  I put one through the boiler and ran down the hill.  By far the biggest deer I've ran into.  Nice to bust a big one.  Of course when I get the big one down my camera won't work so all I have is a grainy cell phone picture my wife's cousin took.  Better than nothing.  He is a nice 4X4 with eyeguards and a 26 inch spread.
