« on: November 28, 2009, 08:10:15 PM »
So, I know how the tide effects duck hunting..I have heard multiple things about how the moon effects deer hunting? What do you guys/girls  think?
Thanks:) It's a full moon going into this week!

from my experience it seems like the early morning hunt is kind of a waste of time. Most likely you will not catch up with them before they bed unless it is really cold or stormy then they have to feed off and on all day. You will find though that they will get up and feed about mid afternoon in most cases. Obviously this is not true all of the time that is why I still hunt but most of time you can pretty much count on it. At least with the areas that I have hunted in the last few years.

I don't like hunting a full moon, but it looks like I'm going to this year.  A full moon isn't as bad if it is cloudy but on clear nights the deer seem to move more.  The plus though is they often get up in the middle of the day and mill around for a couple of hours when you would expect them to be bedded down.  Fishing the full moon can be awesome!

I guess the bonus is there is a lot of sky cover. On my hubby's GPS it says that it is an excellent day to hunt. I have heard such mixed things about it.
