When I was growing up, my old man would only let me hunt ducks with a single shot. said "It will teach you disciplin boy and it will save your ammo". Some 25 years later I took him out on a duck hunt....needless to say, he said the same damn thing, right after he said "I am gonna take that damn autoloading POS and throw it in the water if you dont start hitting anything."

I was having a rough day....the drive home was just as bad.

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I have pumps, autos and over/unders. I voted over/under because they are simple.  I've never had problems while hunting with them.  Yeah I know only two shots, but at least its a consistent two shots.  no jams or cycling problems.

my first shotgun was a bolt action 16 gauge with about a 90 inch barrel  :chuckle:  i hate that thing ... it had a junky three round clip and it kicked harder than any 12 gauge i've ever shot.... i'm a semi auto man... but you can't beat a benelli super nova..

The old Stevens pump, I've had it since I was 15 and will hopefully have it until I hand it down.  It's a 20ga 3" chamber and always reliable.  Get's ir done  :IBCOOL:
