Tri-Cities field hunt
« on: December 11, 2009, 09:17:11 AM »
I had a field Goose hunt planned in the Kennewick area for Sat with a guide service for 6 of us. Yesterday they called and told us that the 'birds weren't finishing'. and that they wanted to postpone our hunt until some of this freeze was over and the birds finished better. Now I can appreciate them wanting us to have a good hunt with lots of birds, but I am under the impression that the weather would make no difference to a field hunt. What's the status of field hunting in the Tri-Cities area during this frozen ground condition? Thanks..

They must have hunted the field to many times and not enough new birds coming in.   :dunno:

Surprised they don't have a few fields that might produce some birds.  There not making money if they are postponing hunts.  Is it a small outfit?

Sounds to me the guides are trying to do you a favor so that you get more bang for the buck. If anyone knows their own fields and bird behaviors around it - it should be them.

That could be the case. Any way about it, it does show they do care about a quality hunt. They are a small outfit, its a tough business, 1 bad day could brings lot of negative comments. I'll give them credit for no just trying to make a buck, but establish a good base of clients. I'll be hitting the local spots this weekend.
