First Muzzle Loader...
« on: December 16, 2009, 07:32:20 PM »
Picked up my first muzzle loader the other day.  used my xmas money from my dad.  ordered the knight wolverine and i plan on using it for elk this coming year.  hoping it will work out for a first timer muzzle loader.   if i get into it maybe ill pick up a top end model some day.

wasnt overly impressed with the fit and finish, and some of the parts feel "cheap".  i do like the way the gun shoulders and i think the shorter barrel will work nicely for hunting the thicker stuff were elk might be.  dont get me wrong its not bad and for the price i dont think anyone can complain.  cant wait to shoot it.   should be fun!

If you got it at a good price like I did, then it's a bargain, especially with the camo, which usually carries a higher price on a Bighorn or Wolverine.  I recently sent Gutpile a link where they were a steal.   Great guns...........you'll love it.  Make sure if it's a .209 Wolverine you search on line for a Knight #90023 breech plug which accepts percussion or musket caps and switch out your 209 plug, which is illegal in Washington.  Plug run anywhere from $15 to $25 depending on where you find one.

You're welcome.  By the way, here's a link to a thread on peep sites.  Scroll down and you'll see a picture of the Williams peep that I replaced the rear sight on both my Bighorn and Wolverine with.  The price is unbelievable, as it runs $65-$90 anywhere else.  Only $35.03 from this egunparts.  Right below the picture on the next reply I also posted the link to the sight on egunparts........scroll down to the bottom of that link page and you'll see it....comes in stainless and blued.

Where to find a mz for a good price?  I think I want to get into this game.  I used to bow hunt and have parked the 06.  I looked at MZ this spring and had to health issues that wouldn't let me go.  This year looks good.  Now where to get schooled and where to buy?

Unfortunately, I checked the site the other day and the source I found is sold out.  I think you and Gutpile got two of the last three Wolverines they had a couple weeks ago.  They have none left.  Glad you both got yours before they were gone. ;)

I don't think I got one. This was on the Christmas list but I think that Santa never ordered it.  :bash:  :bash:   I found another source though. Black on Black for $150.00 shipped. BAD SANTA!!!

I'm done with this and all other sites.  :chuckle:  It just costs me to much money.  :bash:  Just bought a new Wolverine for $150.00 shipped. Looks like we're in business BH2BT.

Thanks WACENTURION!! YOU DA MAN!!

Check Gunbroker and Auctionarms.com

They both have Wolverines all of the time.

I would stay away from a used one unless you can personally look at it first. It only takes a little neglect before a muzzy gets in real bad shape.
