Overexposed daytime pics?

Got a new trailcam, Moultrie D40, thanks to all of the responses to weathergirl's post.  It seems to take decent night pictures but have ended up with mostly overexposed daytime ones.  Here is an example.  Any ideas why this might be?

Looks like your camera might be set up in a naturally shaded spot. It does not take much shade to trick the lower end cameras into taking flash pictures during the daytime. All I own are lower end cameras to to cure this problem I had to place them facing as much natural light as possible. Now I get very few overexposed pics. Hope this helps.

I have some of the same cams. I have found that they do that when you face them toward the sun. Be sure the sun allways travels behind the camera. Especially the afternoon sun.

That makes sense too - I guess it really depends on your setup. I do not have a D40 but I do have and M40 and a couple of wildview cams. I was able to cure my problem because I was sitting in my stand and had my camera setup under a heavily limbed tree and watched the deer come in and watched my camera take flash pictures during the day - every pic was overexposed. this problem went away for me when I moved the camera out to a more open area.

I also have an M-40 and had problems with white washing. I sent an email to Moultrie and they sent me a software upgrade for it. It was easy to do. I'm going to go check the camera tomorrow and see if it worked. I checked it a few weeks ago and it had pics that were still bad. I couldn't tell what the deer was. It left a nice big track!!!

I let it have a littel more soak time so I can get more pics to be sure it wasn't something els. I might try a more open place but it's already open just not much light this time of year.

That first pic was facing north into an old cat road.  Seems like there should be enough light not to flash....  I don't think it flashed me when i set it up, but might just have not noticed.

Here is another one facing west.  I will be setting it up in a wide open meadow for the next couple days, so I guess I'll see.

Be careful where u put that thing. Open meadows are just asking for a thief to take it.

Putting one up anyplace is asking for a thief to take them. It will surprise you the places thieves will nab them from.

I'm going to go check my cams later today. It's been 3 weeks. I hope they made it through archery season.
