Late season bow hunt on west side??
« on: December 18, 2009, 10:50:59 AM »
I missed a muley this year in Twisp and still have my tag. Any suggestions for the west side, I live in Tacoma and do not have a lot of time to pre-hunt as the wife is pregnant with our second son on the way. Have just two weekends left to hunt and have never hunted on the west side. Any suggestions for something near by, would like to get some meat in the freezer this year??

i am new and don't know much but if you are in tacoma i would try out by Mt. Ranier or if you get some time head out behind belfair around the tiger lake area. Anything on the right side of Bear Creek DeWatto Rd. is the Kitsap GMU and open to hunt.

The only person who has failed is the one who never tried.

Hey seansfire,,becareful hunting around Mount Rainer, alot of the areas closed last week on the 15th. The Skookumchuck 667 is still open, but the eastern boundry is the west side of hwy 7 south of Elbe just after you cross the bridge.

I'm finnishing the season out in the Puyallup unit.

Thanks I need to go get a map and get out there. I am thinking of going tomorrow morning. The only decision now is do I walk in from the gate or brink my mountain bike. However if I get back in there 3 miles or more with the bike and get a deer then I have to get it out!!!! Walking in I may be less inclined to get in to far to pack it out, especially if I end up going by myself if my brother does not tag along.

Or you could just hunt near the gate......  :dunno: Is there more deer 3 miles or more from gates? less you got an extra day available to pack one out.

If you got some days to work with then take the bike on the first and lance armstrong your way in a bit behind a gate, dont see good huntin area then pedal out and go to the next one. good way to accelerate your scouting and narrow down a target area faster imho. just maybe you'll get lucky in the process.

use the google maps yo.

Hey Sean if you are traveling from Old Belfair Hwy.  Then Kitsap is on your right, and Masson is on the left.  Masson is only open to Muzzy hunters, not us bow hunters.
