I think I would be able to go this year. The last kid moved out this summer. Life is good, the wife and I have time to do a lot more together.

We went to lyons ferry on the june 5 hunt wa catfish trip. I fished with a buddy and bearman Rick and we killed them. We caught 70 some catfish in two days most around 5-6 pounds but a couple 10;s. Rick tried it from the bank Rasbo but ran right into some rattlesnakes so we stayed in the boat most people were fishing walleye.

What do you guys use for bait? Are you fishing at night or day?

Got some good stuff (personal blend) I might send along with somebody if they will be night fishing. ;)

now we're talking  :chuckle:  Only a few guys made it down there last year.  Hopefully more can make it this year.  Last years thread has a bunch of good info and the guys that went did well.  I'm thinking about March or so we can get serious about planning this thing.

i usually use nightcrawlers and or prawns, have caught some from the bank, some lucky guy may tie into a sturgeon out there as well, but yes, be aware of the snakes, there are a few, i will volunteer to help as far as planning goes, i am pretty local. for the right price i can show off the hot walleye hole right there  :chuckle:

This is the first time I've even herd of a catfish tourny around here. A friend once told me he did well out in front of the the park at central ferry I think but don't know for sure. He was catching them where the channel cut through during the middle of the day, Does that sound right? Also I had a friend bring me some channels once and I staked them then put them in a brine, and smoked them like I would salmon, and man those things were so good it would make you slap your grandma!

I caught one of those things on the snake last summer and tossed it back. I told another boat and they were upset with me. I never tried it and will probably just save the next one for someone at the dock.
