Why must anti's ruin a good day
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:38:48 PM »
went out today hoping to call some yotes in.  anyhow i leave the lowland draws and go up towards waterville and set up in a rock pile with a lot of brush overlooking a slew of wheat fields kind of close to a dirt road, used by locals to get off the plateau and down into the valley.  got my back facing the road start calling,  bout 15 minutes later i got a triple working their way in from way out in the distance.

i hear a car coming down the road and decide not to pay any attention to it hoping it will just keep on going and not spook the dogs.  well the rig stops almost perfectly off my 6 so i cant see it without moving a bunch,  the person doesnt know im there yet, im heavily brushed in,  i keep hoping theyll get a rouse out of seeing the dogs and go away.

i keep working the mouse squeeker in hopes theyll move into range.  the closest was about 350 and the furthest was at apprx. 500.  the far dog must have been shot at before because we was not very accepting to my calls and he was holding the other two back by not moving.

heres where i got pissed,  the guy in the car must have seen me after i had tried to readjust my position to get a better shot.  well he sees me starts yelling dancing around honking his car horn and everything he could think of to scare the dogs.  and scare the dogs he did those dogs were gone in a flash

i stood up and proceded to walk out of the stand, unloaded my rifle and slung it over my shoulder, walked to the road and then to my truck which was down the road a bit from him hidden behind a cut.  he starts to lecture me on his moral delimma with hunting and killing and asks me if i have anything to say for myself.  i really wanted to tear him a new one about messing with my recreation and hobby but i looked at him, probably the nastiest look ive given to anyone in a long time and said "my mother once told me if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all" then walked to my truck packed my stuff and drove off.

sorry if i sound like im bitching but i needed to vent, really hate when stupid people ruin a reallly good day

thanks
Steve

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

you should have gotten his License plate number and reported him for harrassing you and see if he had anything to say for himself

Had a simiular situation last friday deer hunting over on Whidbey, absolutely reconfirmend to me why i dont like hunting the west side (i know you were on the eastside). Unlike littlebuf i have had my fill of what happens when people get angry and calmly retrived my cell phone and took pics of them, there vehicle and there lic #, told them if they did not leave me alone i would call them in for hunter harrassment, they were not happy to say the least.
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

you did the right thing...

I dont care what HIS moral dilema is...he had no right to interupt your hunt.

Other posters are right tho....I would have gotten pics of him, lic of veh etc and called it in....I've had good results with that.  Tends to piss off the harrasser when they get a visit from John Law....too bad...so sad. :yike:

That MAY be what cost me the window and the gear in my truck too....so...be aware.  THat particular person had best tread mighty light in the woods from now on...  :tree1:

I have found my camera to be a very good tool. for anti people, people that just dont look like they belong, I take the pic, sometimes they ask why, so I tell them.
Some kids hanging around the corner store alot lots of kids coming to thier car, so I started taking thier pics everytime I saw them. they did not like that! darn! They dont hang out there any more.

Report him, report him then report him again.  Call an Enforcement Officer, he can have all the moral delima he wants, but he can't harass you in your lawfull pursuit.

Just like I can't harass the peacenicks who badmouth our servicemen although I sure would like to give them the #1 signal everytime I drive by em.

I agree with the camera comment and you may need one next time.

I often put cheap trail cameras with the flash taped over up around my parked vehicle. Only got a couple of passing vehicles and luckily never anyone "looking".

I don't take kindly to that type of behavior, I would have walked around his car and stuck a knife into each tire on his vehicle then walked away calmly never saying a word.

I don't have an anger problem, I just deal with *censored* like that differently than most people.
