I got 2 of the 99's. One in 250-3000 and one in 300 savage.  My father gave them to me and he has killed lots of deer with them.

I've got one...it was my first rifle, purchased for $107.50 with lawn mowing money when I was 11 (1985).  Yes, I can remember the price (and the negotiation) like it was yesterday.  The stock had been cut down, so I think their potential buyers were somewhat limited.   :chuckle:

When I grew a few more inches, I bought and finished a new stock for it.  I absolutely love it and it shoots quarter sized groups at 100 yards.  Problem is it drops off the shelf at 200, so I generally hunt with a different rifle these days.  But I'll never get rid of it, and in about 10 years there's a good chance it will also be my son's first rifle.

I've had a couple, one a 99 that someone rebarreled with an 03 springfield barrel.  I shot cast bullets like they were designed for the rifle.  Found out that the rifle had been looted from a mans house after a tornado, he got it back, probly still has , his dad gave it to him.

I also have a Rem 722 in 300 Sav, great little shooter.  I set it up in a walnut 700 ADL stock, works better with a scope.  Haven't blooded this one yet, but it will stay with me a long time.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I have 2 in Remington 760.  Great shooting guns.  They were my parents, and they both killed a ton of deer and elk.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I've had two, kind of. I had a Contender carbine in 300BS (Bellm Stewart) which is a 307 Win sized in a 300 Savag die; basically a 300 Savage rimmed. Neat caliber but somebody made me a good offer on the barrel so it went home with him.

About 2 weeks ago I picked up a Savage 99E in 300 Savage. I haven't shot it yet but I hope to soon. It seems like great caliber.
