Hey all,

Just wanted to say hi and jump into the forum!  Started archery Elk hunting in 2006 and was lucky enough to get a nice cow pictured below.  Also as you can see I need to work on my pictures as I was holding the bow upside down...

Anyway, I am absolutely addicted now and had this bull close this year but never got a shot, what would he score?

I live in Bonney Lake, Wa. and can't wait for September.

Welcome to the Site Coug!! Atleast you didn't try to shoot at your cow with your bow upside down!! :chuckle:

Welcome to the forum.  Thats called excitement, and thats OK.  I did the same thing with my big bull this year.

He scores enough to shoot, how about that.

Thanks Slider.  It is easier to see the side kicker on the right now.

Also I found another shot of him that I thought I deleted.

As Bone said ... big enough to shoot! He's a little short up front compared to his g-4th 5th & 6ths and very unique with that kicker. I believe entered as a typical you would be loosing a bunch of inches because of that extra point maybe someone who is an expert could tell us how you would score that when the 3rd is missing and comes out of the 4th like that. But he still looks like a 350 bull to me.

Who cares about the score, he is big enough to shoot no questions asked, especially for a roosevelt bull.

boneaddict and ridgerunner:  Oh man if he was a little closer this fall I would have let it fly no questions asked.  It was impossible to get him pulled off his herd.  Maybe next year if he is still around.  And I only ask what his score is as I don't know a whole heck of a lot yet about scoring elk and I am asked occasionally about it and without a frame of reference it is hard to say.  Trust me at this point in my archery career I am a meat hunter first and foremost.  The meat from the cow in 06 was so delicious!

TheKid#10:  I know of another hunter that has seen this bull, but I don't think he is the Rhodes Lk Rd. Bull.  Happy to chat about that herd though.

Welcome!
There are a bunch of great guys here. Congrats on your cow! I still remember my first elk with a bow like it was yesterday. It was a spike and although I have taken bigger bulls since then, it is still one of my favorite memories! I can tell you are hooked. Judging by the pictures of the big bull I am sure it well not be long before you take a nice one! The bull in the pic has a lot of character and great 4ths and 5ths! Just think what he will be like next year!!!

Hey, Coug, I'd like to say welcome as well, although I'm pretty new here myself, only been here a couple of weeks!  There's a great bunch of guys here for sure! But then, I can't say I've ever met an elk hunter yet that I didn't like! (grin)

They would probably not count his #2 and say he is missing that, and give you credit for the 3rds, then the non-typical point.   He wouldn't score crap because of it.  This is one bull the score just doesn't work for.  He is one hell of a bull and I would not meat hunt next year....I'd be looking for his bones. :)

Well I saw him on the first day of early archery last year and hunted every morning and afternoon for 2 weeks, took half days at work for those two weeks.  The only two days I didnt hunt were the middle Friday and Saturday.  Sure enough on those two days the herd walked right by my camera at 730am both days and on the second day it was him at the end just hanging out eating some grass  15ft from my hiding spot.  The reason I didnt hunt...  I was the best man in my buddies wedding.  Weird how that works.

That's a huge Roosevelt. He looks like a Rocky Mt. to me, but then again I'm no expert and haven't killed a Rosie bull yet. Doesn't matter he's a shooter.
