snow goose full body decoys
« on: December 20, 2009, 10:03:56 PM »
where do you get your snow deeks? I'm looking for good full bodies in western washington. I went to cabelas and two sportsmans, along with smaller ma & pa shops. I was disapointed. only silos and a couple floaters available. Looking for something of a full body style, like big foots or something. anything out there? I don't need a lot.

if i have to mail order i will, but I was hoping to pick some up this week.

Wholesale Sports and Skagit Arms / Holiday Market have the full body GHG snow goose decoys.  This area up here hosts the most snow geese in the state, so the sporting good stores carry those decoys.  Check them out, you should be able to pick some up.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Thanks guys, picked up a dozen at wholesale sports up north there. that was all they had left. the ghg look good... but the first day I used them (yesterday) one of the heads broke off while trying to remove it from the body. the fitting was too tight. sportsmans helped me though, they gave me the correct head out of a box of shells so I'm back at par. I'm going to run a dremel or file around the openings so they fit a little better.

finally got some snow decoys though :chuckle:

my receipt was $297 including tax and i bought a $25 call so...they're $125/6 fullbodies. I didn't get any of the discounts that I know are out there (like $20 off purchase of $100 or more at cabela's) because honestly I wanted to play with them at the store before buying.

I will buy rags and stuff later, but wanted to start with the best, then add to my spread with the cheap stuff later. I am even tempted to try a day of old fashioned paper plates!! so if you are all out on fir island this weekend and see a spread of 500 paper plates with a dozen full bodies in the middle, it's me, LOL  :chuckle:

so there are a couple different styles of necks/heads. The new active feeders are made with a better quality plastic in my opinion. the feeders kind of suck. I emailed GHG because my first day out one of the heads broke on a feeder. Sportsmans replaced it for me, no questions asked. the 2nd day out, two more heads broke. That's rediculous. $130 for 6 decoys and 3 break in 2 days? I emailed GHG to see how i can get some more heads. i think its a design flaw, as I noticed the active are designed better. I think they are a newer model.
