Recurve bow/Compound bow

So i was saving up for a car, then spent about 600 bucks of that money on a bow and accessories. It's a Martin Firecat compound bow and i love it to death, but my first bow was a recurve, and i've always liked em too. So, i was wondering, should i buy a recurve(Such as a Martin Jaguar take-down recurve bow) but still keep my compound for hunting and such or is that a bad idea. Also, any info on the Martin Jaguar would be awesome. Thanks ya'll!

i hunt with both and i shot a cow with my recurve and it felt better then shooting my 6by6 with my compound.  just my

never have to many bows, i have 14 right now. lol from primitive self bows to longbows to hybreds to compound i love shooting my traditional bows very much. it helps hone skills. i do not hunt anything but birds with them and small game. not that i could not do it just my choice i shot my elk this year at 3 yards wanted my recurve so bad but just canted the xforce like it was a recurve and let it eat. but my is don't get the jaguar i don't like it at all i have shot a few of them all the same. get a little better bow. i am a bowfishing freak and see allot of them cheap and gets the job done but i don't like the feel of them and they are louder than my bows by far. but if you do get one sportsmans guide has the best price even better if you a member save like another 20.00. hope this helps

I wouldn't call the Jaguar a traditional bow. By my personal defintion it should have wood in the limbs and in a majority of the riser. Anyway I know there are good reports on this model all over the web (cheap models) Sage Take Down Recurve Same as the Samick Sage...

What do ya guys think would be a better bow for me then? I got about a 150-175 dollar budget since my folks are more into fishing then hunting(Say i could spend my money on something better like a new fishing pole or something lame like that). And yes i want a recurve, not a long bow. Thanks

I agree the Jaguar takedown is not really a traditional bow.  Martin had the Jaguar in thier compound bow line up for years.  It appears that all they did was have recurve limbs built to fit the compound riser, very much like the PSE Coyote.  Martin imports the limbs from Italy, and the fit to the riser is kinda rough.  Hey, they sell for just over $100, so...what the heck, go for it, but bear in mind you will have to buy an arrow rest.  You can't shoot it off the shelf like a true traditional bow.

Looked at the link for the Sage that was reccommended by Ray, and I agree for the money that it is a much better choice than the Jaguar.  The Samick line of bows are made in China, so the fit and finish isn't the best, but they shoot well, and that's what it's really all about.  Especially when you are on a budjet.
