The impact of hunting this year on wolf population
« on: December 28, 2009, 01:50:47 PM »
“It’s looking like the wolf population will be close to what it was last year and maybe even a little higher,” Bangs says. “The hunting has certainly not impacted the wolf levels at all.”

Bet it would shock a lot of folks to know the "real count" of the wolves. Course that won't happen because the people in charge are in the wolf deal for the $$$. Just like Washington's prize wdfw. The joke grows from state to state. At some point in the history of the wolf introduction, the full truth of what the wolves have done to the country will come out. Will it be just another screw up led by departments with financial gain on their mind or will it actually be justified by some environmentalist hotshot elected as the president of the USA. :dunno:

This all just really blows my mind??  >:( :bash: Washington is going to do everything possible to bring back the wolf to uncontrollable numbers too.

Quotes from Conservation northwest:

"It's confirmed: Wolves are making a comeback to Washington, good news for the Evergreen State. Wolves play an important ecological role, especially in the restoration of the predator-prey relationship and the effect that has on the overall health of ecosystems."

"The state should eliminate the reckless "caught in the act" killing provision for livestock owners in the early phases of recovery. Investing in non-lethal deterrent methods and providing livestock owners with a fair compensation package are more effective approaches at the early stages of wolf recovery."

Here is a quote from Wikipedia:

"Wolves are not essential for the presence of many other species"

And Wikipedia is a very liberal source

The presence of any animal is an independent factor not even pertaining to wether wolves are present or not. The idea behind the reintroduction to yellowstone was for a healthier ecosystem, and it worked. So naturally as wolves migrate from Canada and Idaho, the WDFW accept the idea of healthier ecosystems without the cost of reintroduction.

Yes, you know that the USFWS didn't come up with that wolf count. Finding out there are more doesn't benifit them, now more deer and elk on there annual count means more food for the wolves  :yike::chuckle: They never stop telling stories do they?
