Right equipment for buffalo
« on: January 04, 2010, 02:31:01 PM »
I recently began checking into affordable Buffalo hunts near me. Have found several that I think I can afford. Am open to suggestions and recommendations also. Anyway my question: Is my current equipment significant for such a hunt..Not so much my equipment but my arrow rather..I shoot a Martin Slayer Pro Series..Its set at 69lb and pushes a 27 in 365 grain Ted Nuggent Goldtip 5570 at about 300 fps ..I shoot a 100 grain Magnus stinger 4 blade broadhead..Thought I'd ask on here as I've found that most people wont hold back and I will get an honest opinion on the subject...Thanks, Passin
P.S.
Not at all interested in using a firearm for this hunt.  :archery_smiley:
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me
Genesis 27:3

I may not have alot but what I have I got honest.....

I'd rather be hated for what I am then be loved for what I'm not

Is it me, or are people getting dumber

Let me start by saying I have no idea how much energy you need to get a clean kill on a bison.  But that said, I would think the arrow weight is too light if you don't get a good shot.  I'd bump up the arrow weight to the 600 grain range just to insure adequate energy.  I've seen some arrows in the 380 gr range not do too well on elk.

Suggestion, less a firearm?.............bucket of oats and a 5# hammer.
..............as always, offering sobering truth.
