25-06 hands down if including elk. I'm not too impressed with the .243 on deer.

I have both, and haven't shot the 243 since I got the 25-06. But the 25-06 really does some damage when it hits with any of the varmint class bullets.

Ive looked at the wssm for a good year now and if I get one it will be in an ar15 platform. Its about the same for an oly upper in 25wssm as it is for a nice bolt gun in 25-06 or 243. Im really thinking 25-06 now and an upper later

Given the choice stated, I'd go with the 25-06 hands down. But if you get a line on a reasonable 257 Roberts I'd be all over that like....well, you know...
For what it's worth, I am upgrading Pathfinder Jr from his single shot .243 to a bolt action .308 for his birthday this year (no one tell him...
). He's 10 (turning 11), and not big for his age, so I have to get a youth model because of the stock length and the weight, but I wanted him to have a .30 cal for elk and bear hunting. Just my

if you think the 243 is in the same class as a 308 you're on drugs.

Man I really don't like the 308. Sure it's a good round but to me they kick just as hard as my 338 win. I hurt after putting a box though the savage I sighted for a friend, an the sps I shot wasn't any better. I've shot 50 rounds out of my 338 an not hurt like that. I'm going to take a friends 25-06 out an see how it kicks.
