Yeah, That's what I thought. I think I'm going to buy about 30' of bungee cord and just weave it back and forth. The first design I saw a few years back had the bungee cord and not the rubber straps. Should be cheaper with the cord and a little more forgiving if the antlers are not quite ready to shed off. just my

Isn't it still a little early for shedding antlers?   Maybe it's just region but I see bucks with antlers all the way to the end of march. I think I'll try to get one out mid Feb. I'm gonna be up in northern stevens county.....maybe it's a little different in the southern regions.    Good luck coop

I think that it may be a little early but a couple people have seen some white tails with only one antler.  That may be from other reasons though.  I am basically putting it out on my new property to get them coming in.  I have noticed it takes them a little while for them to find the feeders some times.  In my mind it is not going to hurt anything by putting it out and you never know may get lucky...

  Deer Corn, alfalfa pellets, deer feed or any of the other feeds they sell in the bags for deer...

Big R stores have 50lb bags of dry or sweet cob mixes for around $10

Sweet job Coop, the only thing that with talking to my buddy in Wisconsin, is they have the box set up at an angle some so the rain does not go straight down in to the feed.

I really hope it works for al lyou guys getting out there and doing it. Wish I could join you.

Yeah I plan on putting the 2x4 in at an angle and I think I might try to put it under a tree also to keep it from the rain.  I made the pocket for the 2x4 so if I want to remove it I can leave the 2x4 in the ground and just take the box..  Thanks

just make sure that you get that thing stuck in the ground securely enough...... I have seen bucks do some thrashing at times and I wouldn't want to come out and find the thing on its side with all the corn on the ground,.....I am thinking about putting one directly on a big old pine tree on my parents place....I think that might improve the sturdiness....only issue then is portability....maybe I am overthinking it...

I was actually thinking the same thing after I built this with the 2x4.  The ground is frozen how am I going to get that in the ground.  I think I may use a lag bolt into a tree at the right height but it will still need to be at an angle so all the feed does not come to the front of the box..
