Switching to modern

Well after the last two years of bad luck early archery Im thinking that Ill try modern elk this year. I have a great spot to hunt during modern and think Ill have better luck with my rifle then my bow.

Well this is funny.....after a couple of years not filling my rifle tag   I think I'm switching to a Muzzy.   Good luck to you, I hope you get to pull the trigger.

Well I think my odds will be better with a rifle. I know a area not many will pack into and I have watched spikes in there the last two years from easy rifle range so I figured why not. That and I bought my 338 win to shot elk.

I'm still waiting for my second archery kill and it has been 10 years now.

i will never hunt modern elk again. well general season modern elk any way. has got to be the worst hunting season in America

Well Ive done archery for elk for a long time and just can connect. I just want to get and elk under my belt Il switch back after this year.

I'm kicking around the idea of going back to rifle for deer but will NEVER go back to rifle for elk.

Lol we'll see I was up hunting that area during modern and there weren't as Manet people as archery season. I'll go back because I love trying to get with in 10yds of animals but it's just been to hot and way to many people spooking animals for me.

I'm still considering the option of switching from muzzleloader to modern this year, for elk. Looking at the proposed permits, there are more that I'm interested in, in the modern firearm categories. I'm switching from modern to muzzleloader for deer for sure. Can't decide on the elk but will probably stay with muzzleloader mainly because it would be nice to have both deer and elk tags while hunting the late season when they're both open at the same time. Still waiting to see if the proposal goes through or if they might put it off for another year. (doubtful)

Yeah I can still get close but have the option to take a shot when im not so close too. Im thinking of putting in for some of the draw permits too.

I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch...  just cause your switching to modern doesn't mean you'll " get an elk under your belt" theirs alot of elk around in September during the rut that aren't anywhere to be found in November...especially with the added hunting pressure. where i hunt you pretty much have to get within bow range no matter what you hunt with.
