Anyone reloading the 110gr Accubond in a 25-06?
« on: January 11, 2010, 05:52:00 PM »
Been shooting the 200gr Nosler Accubond in my 325wsm with a couple moose, an elk and several deer to it's credit.  So I thought I would try 110gr Accubond in my 25-06, was just wondering if anyone had been loading this round outta the 25-06 and what kind of results you've seen.  Thanks.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

I started reloading these in my 25-06 last year.  They shoot great.  I was getting three shot groups that were touching at 100 yards with IMR 4350 and Winchester primers. I'm a little dissapointed on how they performed on a deer that I shot this last fall though. I took a broadside shot at about 120 yards.  I hit him in the shoulder, but he got back up and ran into some aspens.  When we got to where I shot him there was no blood trail.  Never found a single drop or even any fur.  After we found him I noticed that the exit hole on the opposite shoulder was about the same size as the entrance.  I dont think the bullet mushroomed at all.  The shoulder I hit him in was desrtoyed and I was able to salvage some meat off of the other.  I'm going to hunt with 100 grain soft points this year, either Hornadys or Nosler Partitions.  The bullet did its job, I just want a blood trail to follow.  When a deer gets back up and there is no blood trail to follow I start to get worried.  Oh yeah, I also shot 200 grain Accubonds out of my 325wsm with great results on paper.  Too bad I never had a chance to try them out on an animal before I sold the gun.

if you have the chance to try a few before you buy a box, I would suggest it. I have seen many a 2 bit that will shoot 85-100 gr bullets to a ragged hole and not get a 117 on the paper. it is gonna boil down to you guns twist and appetite. 110 should be about the best efficiency for weight/twist but in some slower rifles or those with slower twists it may be too much.

Ing, sent ya a pm.

High Country, I have had good luck with handloading the 117gr Ballistic silvertip, accuracy wise.  Problem is they just haven't held together real well when hitting a shoulder on a big deer.  So I am fairly confident I can get the 110's to fly well, just looking for a starting load that someone has used in the past.  Thanks for the advice.
