Great Day On The Cascade
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:19:30 AM »
Got up early sunday mornin to try to beat the mobs to the cascade. 1 1/2 hr drive up there, in the parking lot by 5:45 and there were 4 cars. Needless to say it was a zoo. I was less than enthusiastic about how the day was going to go and honestly wasn't expecting anything great. My two buddies and found some spots, one down near the big snag and the other two of us down below him. I refused to fish when it was dark dark out but my buddy Worm threw a few casts only to get hung up. Sitting there waiting i get a good luck text from the old lady. Decided to cast out my fav color combo of corkies and a sand shrimp around 7am or so. About halfway through my drift I felt the bite and set the hook. One cast, one fish. I couldn't believe it. Needless to say the rest of the day went well. Saw quite a few nice fish caught, and Worm limited by 9. Other buddy joe lost one and landed another. Around 10 o'clock people started clearin out and i moved up towards joe. He had just lost a fish on a spoon, and i switched to pink and peach with my last sand shrimp. He looks over at me and says 'if you catch your limit, you don't need my help anymore. you're on your own' About two minutes later fish on nice chromer to finish my limit for the day. Joe was kinda irritated but said screw it one more cast and boom, fish on. 3 limits by 11. Went up the next day it rained, i got wet, got skunked, joe got one.

1-10-10

Me with my fish. Nerve in my back was gettin pinched hence why i'm holding them like a girl. They weren't that heavy, i was just in pain

Joe with his fish

Worm had the hot rod of the day, two fish by 9 after not fishing for 2 solid years. I think he's ready to retire for awhile

3 limits, happy dudes

Definitely epic. I'm ruined now. I'm scraping up money since i'm not working so I can buy a rod and reel setup. My cousin as a Loomis i'm trying to steal from him since he doesn't fish.

man, you don't need to drive 4 hours...about 40 miles south gets the job done!
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Oh Great! Not only will the river be packed with fisherman, it will be loaded with Paparazzi. I can see the headlines now "Famous actor and his buddies set up with their deadly fishing rods and had the steelhead corralled in the hatchery, picking them off one by one". "This was'nt a fishing trip it was a slaughter!" More bad press for Skagit County outdoorsman. :chuckle:

Just cause Space buys his fish at safeway doesn't mean the rest of us have to.  :chuckle:
