Slow day
« on: January 16, 2010, 05:52:00 PM »
JayM and I went out to try to get a couple coyotes today. We figured Gringo could use a little support with that one man team he's got going. :chuckle:

Called in 2 from a distance, they circled for awhile staying way out there, then decided they didn't want anything to do with it.

We came across 2 dead steers....so the game plan is to spotlight those later this evening.

We did however watch 60 head of elk for awhile which is always nice...and kind of made up for the slow afternoon.

Could put a trail cam out but pretty slim chance that a cougar would be in that location. (they are down in the wheatfields in Dayton)

We decided to head up to some higher ground out the Patit and that's where we ran into the elk.

Yeah one has been there for awhile and is pretty chewed on, ribs boned out etc..

The other one is fresh within a couple days...they started on the rump roasts  :chuckle: but 95% is completly intack.

Yeah wasn't worried about the cats, don't have a tag and it would really suprise me if one made it this low. It's happened, but not often.
