Packwood GMU ELk?
« on: January 19, 2010, 10:54:39 AM »
I was thinking of going over by Packwood Lake for my elk next year, but I don't really know anything about that area.  I am wondering if there is a decent population of elk in that area and if there is a lot of people who hunt it.  I'm trying to find a spot where there isn't a bunch of people in the 3 point minimum category of GMU's if that is possible.  Any advice will be appreciated.

Yeah if you hunt from your truck like all the other lazies. That is a LAZY mans post. If you're willing to put in just a little extra effort than you wont see people and should be around a bunch of elk. Just like anywhere else. The opportunity for elk in WA is great...on second thought, nevermind theres no elk in WA you cant get away from people. Better off going to MT!  :chuckle:

I GAVE UP ON PACKWOOD several years ago, just a mad house now, people blocking roads, even road hunting in bow season from trucks with chairs in the back, ya think you can leave the road walk in aways to getaway from the crowds and ya find orange everywhere, cant go a mile in that area on foot, without crossing a road or two, access is too easy and draws alot of slobs. i only had two days this past season ta try it, and its still the same or worse. great scenery, but ya cant getaway from folks, i'd nickname it "winston two"
