Starting a State Taxidermy Assn.
« on: January 24, 2010, 10:40:24 PM »
To all Taxidermist and Taxi Enthusiasts:

Got to talking with some other members in anther thread about starting up a State Taxidermy Assn. You need not be a taxidermist to join just be interested in Taxidermy. I was a member of the Maine Assn of Taxidermist as well as a past V.P. of the NW taxidermy Assn. One thing is for sure if there aren't dedicated members to drive the program, the program WILL fail.

Just wanting to give members an opportunity to chime in and give there position on either revitalizing the NW assn, Or starting a State chapter. I'll run down some details if there appears to be enough interest.

Non-Taxi's are encouraged to participate. let us know how you feel about attending shows, classes or seminars.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Jeff  A.K.A Kuduman

I am interested in getting it started up again.  So are we going to try to revitalize the old association or go for a State one?

Michelle: Bucklucky:
Saw that Oops earlier and made some calls. Hope I didn't ruffle any feathers in burbank. I've known Craig for a while and He's on-board with reestablishing the Assn and he's offered any help he can. He and I talked about making a road trip to go get the paperwork and any finances that are left over from the NWTA. I think at the very least a name change is in order and I talked with him about running down the old members list and starting to see who might be interested in getting involved.
As it stands now I think the direction this takes is wide open. I'm willing to put forth the time if I know we have some members on-board. I suggest we run this up the flag pole and in a week or so we look to see how many people are saluting it, that's when we'll know how and when to invest our time and effort. What do you think :dunno:

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,
You know that I'm all for it. I was on the Board during the last go around and between Kevin and Jenelle it just fell apart. Let me know if I can do anything over here.

No problem. I'm pretty sure no feelings were hurt or toes were stepped on.

To all
I'll kinda watch this for a week or two and Craig and I will take the necessary steps to get the chapter info together (Bylaws, constitution etc. ) and I'll keep you all posted. Help spread the word and we'll use this thread as a sound post to gauge the level of interest.

Good Luck

Jeff

I would love to see it started up again.  I attended a couple meetings when it was still in operation and then it just kind of died off :(  John

The State Dept of wildlife has a complete list of all currently licenced taxidermist. I'll check to see if they will make that info available for a membership drive.

Thanks to all who have replied so far

I understand that the count was 650 licensed taxidermists when the start up attempt was made a few years ago.  I suspect that number of folks who are doing taxidermy is much larger.  It would be good to find that figure as well.  Getting the number of licenses sold is no problem as it is pubic information similiar to the number of hunting licenses sold, duck stanps sold and etc.  Getting the names and addresses may be a little more challenging but possible.
