Smelting Success!
« on: February 06, 2010, 02:17:18 PM »
I had a half of a day today to get out and decided to hit the smelt early this morning for the opener. Loaded up the rig last night, fueled her up, got everyone to bed early so we could leave Olympia early this morning to arrive in Kelso by 7am.  At 7am, everyone started dipping and the four of us had our limits of 10lbs each by 8am. Well, that's how it should have went.

Well done Ice, sounds like you were the only ones that did well

I was out for a while today with the GF and we didn't do near as well. Think we got 10 pounds between us.

Yeah, actually we got skunked..... I have never seen so many folks take a couple of passes with the net and get absolutely skunked. I did not see one single smelt hit a net or bucket, even after checking the water in many many places, before and after a breakfast run.

Tealer,...10lbs, you are the man! Good job, cause we sucked today.

I never do better then the majority. Location and persistence is the key I had a lot of empty dips today.
