i think its a deer rub, ive seen the same thing on our cottonwoods and there are no bears around im pretty sure its just a spike or small two point buck trying to big-boy a bigger tree

It's definitely a deer or an elk.  It looks "elky" to me.  Spend about 15 or 20 minutes and you will find hair, then you will know for sure.  I've always been able to find at least one hair, even if it was just a tip rub, like this one appears to be.  It may be on the ground, but there is one or two hairs there somewhere. 

If I recall; Sasquatch hairs are the longest, Chupacabra hair is really short in the Pacific Northwest.  Both of them will have light green tint to the hairs.  I know nothing about three toed sloth(s), but I think their hair has a darker green tint to it.  Also, one must realize that a foot hair may have crap on it, as the last three species mentioned like to walk in it and feel it squish up between their toes (hence the greenish tint).  The Three-toed Sloth kind of get shortchanged in that respect as he only has the two squish opening on each foot, that's why they walk so slow...they can enjoy it longer.

found one a while back,after intense scrutinizing,and pain staking efforts,found out it was some Peta chicks nose and tongue ring rubs, and some pit hair..It had to be an intense tree hugging moment.Found some scrapes in the dirt,long ones..Back tracked them and found it to buttocks drag marks,at the beginning of the drag marks was some sort of fecal matter,later tested as having a large percentage of tofu and brownies...
