Willamette Sturgeon Trip
« on: February 12, 2010, 07:23:23 AM »
Did a trip yesterday with a old buddy from AK that was here doing some buisness in Seattle.  Weather was good, Water was great, but keeper fish weren't being on their best behavior....  We got 16-18 but NO KEEPERS.. :'(  Several in the 35-37 range, one went 37 3/4..  and a bunch of of the smaller shakers...  Talked to the fish checker, dead day across the Willamette, "secret bait" (Garlic Soaked Herring) must be working.....  :chuckle: Will post some pics once he e-mails them after his return to AK..

Mike...Garlic Soaked Herring? I may have to come up a dual use recipe for them. Sounds like a great way to make lunch and fish at the same time. You get that stern mount hibachi set up yet?

Yep with sturgeon fishing becoming so frickin popular these days it doesn't take long for the legal size ones to be fished out.

Good job, even if no keepers. I haven't even stuck a hook in one this year. Only been out twice but still........

Running to above Bonneville on Monday with my buddy from Portland.  He has been having fabulous days, we'll see...  Ripper, once I get through Feb, I'll be running down quite a bit so we can do a trade of fishing spots.  I always wanted to see what is in the northern rivers as they of course are closer for sure...
