Question about new pup!!!
« on: February 18, 2010, 03:28:02 PM »
So I got a new YLF pup Superbowl sunday, and ever since we've gotten her when she's inside laying down or sleeping she pee's herself not alot at a time but just a few drop's as i've sat there and watched just to see what is going on. So my question is is this just a young puppy thing and she hasn't figured out to hold it til she gets up or what? When I take her outside she will pee everytime. She will be 9 weeks old tomorrow i've had 2 other lab pups but they were male and didn't have this problem, it does seem to be getting better tho. But sucks as we got to make sure she's either on a towel or pee pad's when laying down. Any thought's are appreciated. Thanks.

I recently had pups and kept one. I saw this same problem with my puppy and now she is almost 6 months and the problem is gone. If it is something that continues much longer I would defiantly seek professional help.

I would get it looked st. We sold a pup once that had a similar issue. The guy we sold it to called us up and said the pup would leak a little pee from tome to time. She would go pee outside then leak a little more back in the house. It turns out she had some rare condition that she basically had no bladder. The guy refused to give her up and he was going to pay for the surgery to have the condition fixed so I refunded his money and all was good. The vet at WSU that diagnosed it said it happens every so often, not genetic just did not develop correctly. That was the last litter of pup we had, almost 9 years ago. Good luck and I hope she grows out of it,

I have this problem with one of my labs...  Initially I thought it was a potty training issue, but I finally realized that she just can't control it.  I need to take her to the vet and get their opinion, just haven't gotten to it yet. I hope for your sake your pup grows out of it... it can be outright exasperating sometimes.

Talk to your vet.  Sometimes with urinary tract infections my pups have leaked a little, especially females.
