Puyallup WAC Gun Shows
« on: February 19, 2010, 09:37:50 AM »
So I've been a member of the WAC for years and used to really look forward to the monthly shows at Puyallup.  But it seems to me that last couple years or so the quality/quantity of guns there has gone down?? It's 80% military memoribilia, 10% Jewelery, and 10% of tables that actually have guns on them..  Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan and supporter of our military and think it's great that if you bring the wife along maybe she has a thing or two to look at but it's gotten to the point where I don't even go most the time anymore.  I understand fully that economical times have changed and people have less spending money but shouldn't that mean more guns at affordable prices??  It's like the guys at the tables want above top dollar for their items and want to give you way below bottom dollar for what you have.  In my observation there are a lot less transactions going on.   :dunno:

The last time I went to a show there was only one table that had what I considered good sporting arms..the rest was junk and memorabilia type stuff...

I guess it depends on what you are looking for, last month I bought 2.  As for this month  :dunno: we shall just have to see.  What pisses me off is all of the people who pack up their tables and clos shop at 3 when the show has a couple of hours left to go.  >:(

Don't know about that as I always am standing in line early to get in there first thing.  If you don't mind me asking what did you buy last month?

A couple of marlin model 60s.  Sold them both already too.  :IBCOOL:  I like to find the deals that other people miss.

Right on..  Good for you.  I'm the same way but I wont buy anything to make $$ on unless I know I can make $100 on it or it's just not worth my time.  :twocents:

I like a fast nickel compared to a slow dime :)  I picked up a VX3 30mm tube 4.5-14 with the varmint reticle for $400 with the rings.  I like those kinds of deals.  They are out there.

What i miss the most is deals on ammo.

I was thinking the same thing.  Ammo at those shows are retail priced.  It wasn't always that way.
Friend: "Are you free tonight?"
Me:  (Gazing into the distance as a bald eagle screeches)  "I'm always free"

My point exactly.  But... I'm headed over tomorrow morning because if I don't I'll be thinking all day what deal or rare gun I may miss out on.  There was a time when I was buying 1-2 guns a month there..  Don't think I've bought one in a year.

That sounds like a good deal to me on the scope.. I think they are like $650 now..  As for the nickels and dimes.. I'd rather make one good purchase that I can make $200-300 dollars on than 14 purcahses that make $25 each.   :dunno:

Its just my way to justify the time away from the house on saturdays.  I might not make alot of money on most of the guns that I buy, but I dont lose any money.  Sometimes you find the perfect piece, the one you have been looking for.  I bought a savageV/A ay the monroe show for 300 bucks  :) In great shape just missing 25 bucks worth of parts.  I fixed it up and its worth a good bit more now.  Fortunately for me there alot of guys willing to sell old ugly guns cheap.  I clean them, fix what I can and have fun with it and make some money on the side.  Its not about the money, its about what I can learn from the process.

I stopped going to the shows here in Monroe b/c I got tired of seeing the same guys with the same exact over priced guns every month. I guess they aren't in it to make sales as much as they just like being around other like minded people and talking about guns. I can't remember the last time i saw someone walk out of a show with a gun that wasn't a relic or that they didn't being in trying to sell/trade.

As far as ammo goes you can find better prices if you watch the sale papers for big 5/sports authority/Cabelas. My dad lives in Cali and said when he goes tot eh shows down there people are walking out pushing a hand truck with thousands of rounds at a time... and not just one guy a lot of guys doing this down there.
