Gator trip for a few members.
« on: February 19, 2010, 12:34:56 PM »
I took a few members out yesterday for a try at some Columbia river gators. We had a fun time and enjoyed the sun. late in the day we were going to head up on the Cowlitz and try for some but I had a kick up in the motor and spent to much time running around getting fuel/water separator filter and wasn't able to get the problem solved.

it's always great to meet some other members and get to know them and hear some great stories. We will do it again soon guys!!

I had to cancel todays trip with people from PA. Talked to my mechanic today and he says to run some fuel conditioner and give it a few hrs to work out the gunk from the old gas. Whoever would think 2 month old gas would go bad :bash:

Nice job. Too bad about the motor. If Sunday was a keeper day I would think about heading down.

I'm still looking to do more trips in the next few weeks. I'm thinking of doing some combo trips for gators and springers. I would anchor with the out going tide and when it turns and starts getting slower I would go fish gators. I've always done well on gators on that incoming water and good for springers when the water turns and runs out. It's still early for springers but about 2 more weeks and  I think it might be worth sitting on the hook for a few hrs. ;)

That's O.K. she is used to me coming home empty handed, I just spent 6 hours at a little lake with the girls catching 6-7 inchers...might as well been smelt fishing.

Hey Kris if you are using gasoline with 10% ethanol added it will go bad quickly without treating it. I'm not sure if every Conoco station is like the one I go to, but they do not use any ethanol and their gas stores a lot longer.   :twocents:

I know that now :bash: I knew it didn't store well but I had no idea 1 1/2 months was to long. I rarely let my boat sit that long. I am going ot start useing a fuel conditioner all the time and won't have to wory about it now.
