All very nice pix. M_ray that is an awesome bull. congrats. Wastickslinger did your buck come from south of Ritzville? Ive been wanting to put in for that tag but havent yet. I get over that way shootin coyotes and have seen some HUGE bucks.

Yes it was sout of Ritzville. Closer to Washtucna. In years past i guess they took some bruisers but I had a hard time finding one on property that I could get permission to hunt. Lots and lots of private land.

It probably wouldn't be much of a trophy for anyone else, but I harvested this spike bull with a brand new Thompson Center "Black Diamond" Extended Range on my first trip out with it (only an hour into shooting light). He bugled back to me in the early morning and I stalked him down in the Colville N.F.

M-ray he was pure blacktail. the crosses usually are from farther east than we hunt.

My son's 2007 Youth Desert Buck
« Reply #25 on: February 10, 2008, 07:55:21 PM »
I posted a short blurb on this on the deer hunting blog.  66 yards free hand in the Desert.  He was one of 2 tags for a youth muzzleloader.  His second muzzleloader buck but his first mulie.

Nice buck Gunner. For about ten years we only hunted black powder. Had some success, but lots of fun.

I shot him opening day of early muzzleloader season.  I had that multi-season tag so during archery I stalked this buck twice with no success.  I shot him at thirty yards and during archery season I could only get within seventy yards.  My first time muzzleloading and I love it.
