Do grey fox change color in the winter?
« on: March 07, 2010, 09:41:35 PM »
Why, I was traveling over white pass this weekend and saw a fox I think, cross the road. It was white with some gray, it was cool. If it wasn't fox I'm not sure what it was, please help.

I've never heard of them changing color however there are red fox and blue fox in Washington. You probably seen a blue.

About 10 years ago going over white pass with my dad, we saw a fox that we both thought was a gray fox.  But after looking at sako223's link it was for sure a silver fox.

I've trapped a lot of gray fox and seen them all times of the year. I've never seen any variance in color from season to season.
