Reloading Scale?
« on: March 15, 2010, 08:34:10 PM »
I am looking for a new digital scale.  I have a cabelas one and I am not to impressed. It works but is finiky even after calibrating it.  It bounces around to much. Any recomendations?  :dunno:

Old F--t here, unless your going with a complete powder dispensing system Lyman, RCBS or Pact I'd stay with a good balance beam scale.  One of my favorites is an old Redding oil dampenned rig, most of my scales are at least 30yrs old, never had to change a battery yet and if something is amiss you can see it right away and they don't need to be callibrated each time you use them. I keep a scale at each press and one in reserve  the Redding, Lyman M-5, Lyman D-5 and RCBS 5-10 only the RCBS has had to go in for repairs, corosion on one of the knives.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Don't buy a cheap one it will frustrate the hell out of you.  A good balance scale is still my favorite overall if I had to have just one.  I've never found the digital to be a real "advantage" in most reloading situations.

Pretty much sums it up.....

I actually use a RCBS 5-0-5 balance beam scale.  I know someone who has had a couple of different digital scales and the Lyman is the best.  Here is what he has, it is nice!
