New Shoulder Holster Setup from Tauris Holsters
« on: March 04, 2010, 11:58:42 AM »
Custom rig I ordered about a month ago for my 5 inch Kimber Custom Covert.  Very nice quality, made one at a time by Michael the owner, a retired police officer in New York state.  Been making holsters for 35+ years.  This one is a convertible, which means holster and double magazine holder can both be removed from the harness and worn as a high rise on the belt concealed.  Holster has a thumbbreak on it, and can be carried cocked and loaded, condition 1.  Unbelievably light...like wearing a feather.

A big thank you to Gutpile for giving me a lead on Tauris.  Appreciate it very much.

Pretty nice looking riggin you got there.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

I like the backstrapping nice and wide.  That's one thing I hated about wearing a shoulder rig is the straps were uncomfortable.  Let us know how you like the fit and feel.

Have you used it much since you got it? Hows it worked out? I love my Tauris, sure glad you like yours. Theres a lot to be said about custome rigs versus over the counter one size fits all stuff.

Gut...........Have not worn it much to this point, as I plan to use it while I'm in the field turkey hunting this spring.  Didn't want something on my hip while sitting.  Seems very comfortable and extremely light.  Wasn't sure there was even a holster in the box when it came....felt like an empty box.  Workmanship is top notch.  Holster and magazine carrier also come off if one wants to wear as a high rise on the belt.  Also feels comfortable that way.

Right now I generally wear an inside the waist holster which I like.  Here's a photo of two of my holsters....black with sharkskin trim.  Used for a 5" and 3" Kimber 1911.
