POW Alaska spring bear
« on: May 09, 2008, 02:52:43 PM »
Well guys about 2 or 3 months ago I started about a thread about making a trip to POW for spring bear.  Good news is I flying out on May 30 for 6 days.  A buddy of my brother in laws bought a cabin in Klawock, thats where were going.  I called the forest service and got a FS Map coming, then I called the sporting goods store in Craig, and asked a few general guestions nothing to pushy, and I didnt really get any helpful info out of them.  Asked if there was a Wildlife bioligist on the island and they said no, I find that hard to believe.  Anyways its going to mostly be a fishing trip, that I am going to do a little bear scouting/hunting mainly for next season, since time is limited on the trip.  Do any of you past POW hunters have any idea if there is decent hunting around the hills of Craig/Klawock or the surrounding bays and coves.  We have a 23 boat up there also.  If anyone has some past knowledge or experience Id love to here it.  If not, Ill fiqure it out when I get there.  Thanks

I don't have any info. add, sorry, but I have researched the POW hunt quite a bit.  I would love to get a group to go hunt there next year or the year after.

Let me know if you ever want someone to split costs with  :hello:.
